Manchester City Sent ‘Several Scouts’ To Watch Bundesliga Forward In Action

Manchester City have sent a host of scouts to watch Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry ahead of the new season, as per a new report.

It seems as if the Premier League champions are set for a perfect summer of business in their bid to challenge on all fronts again next term.

From an incomings perspective, Erling Haaland’s arrival dominates the headlines as he has been brought in as the answer to Manchester City’s search for a successor to Sergio Agüero’s throne.

Kalvin Phillips has been confirmed as a Manchester City player on Monday morning following the completion of his £42 million switch from Leeds - to provide competition for Rodri in midfield next season.

With the Sky Blues planning to bring in Brighton’s Marc Cucurella through the door as well, City could be an even more dangerous proposition going forward.

In addition, Pep Guardiola’s side could end up earning a significant profit through the sales of many outgoings and potential exits in the coming weeks - such as Gabriel Jesus, Gavin Bazunu, CJ-Egan Riley and Romeo Lavia.

Sources close to the Etihad Stadium have revealed City are not targeting a replacement for Raheem Sterling, whose is understood to be nearing a move to Chelsea.

With the England international’s searing pace and unrivalled off-the-ball movement making him the most unique profile of winger at the club, City's stance on a replacement for the 27-year-old decision could certainly prove to be a risk.

While some may argue Sterling has not been at his brilliant best for the past two seasons, he remains the club’s top-scorer in all competitions across both seasons - with 31 strikes to his name.

Keeping all these factors into mind, it seems like the Premier League champions have found a rightful heir to the club legend, who has expressed his desire to leave the Etihad

As per an exclusive report by Fabrizio Romano for Caught Offside, Manchester City have sent various scouts to watch Serge Gnabry in action to assess if he would fit Pep Guardiola’s brand of football.

The Italian journalist also revealed that as things stand, the Germany international is yet to decide over a potential contract extension at Bayern Munich, with only one year left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena.

While it is understood that Arsenal were keen on bringing back their former wideman this summer, Fabrizio Romano has debunked the speculation by stating the 26-year-old is not on the club’s radar and is also said to have ‘other priorities’.

Since joining Bayern Munich in 2017, Gnabry has established himself into one of Europe’s most deadly wingers.

However, whilst there is no denying his excellence, the Stuttgart academy graduate doesn’t exactly profile like Raheem Sterling, whose movement above anything else is what has led to his incredible rise under Pep Guardiola over the years.

Aside from that, the Champions League winner is coming off the back of a down season for the Bavarians, who recently signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool.

With City's tendency of not rushing into signings and Cole Palmer’s planned inclusion in the first-team next term, it remains uncertain at present whether the Sky Blues will enter the race to sign Serge Gnabry.
