Confirmed Line-Ups: Liverpool vs Manchester City (FA Community Shield)

It's finally time to kick off Manchester City's season! Pep Guardiola's men are set to take on Liverpool in the 2022 Community Shield.

For the fourth time in five seasons, Manchester City kick-off their season with the FA Community Shield - this time against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

After winning the Premier League title in such dramatic fashion, it is almost time to refresh and go again for another 10 months of twists and turns.

The Blues visit West Ham in their opening league fixture next weekend.

But first, they will want to get their hands on the first piece of silverware on offer this season.

A short, but successful tour of the United States is City's only preparation going into this one, so Pep Guardiola will have one last chance to assess his squad before the serious competitive action gets underway.

It did not take £51 million signing Erling Haaland long to score his first City goal - 12 minutes to be exact. But facing a backline of Liverpool's calibre will be a whole new task altogether, if he is selected to start.

We also saw glimpses of Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez and Stefan Ortega in pre-season after their moves to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

One person we will not see for a little while is Aymeric Laporte.

In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola confirmed: "He had surgery after the last few games [last season], he made an incredible effort.

"He had surgery, he's doing incredibly well, you have to do careful. It's his knee, he might be out until September."

Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and John Stones also did not travel will the squad to the US, but they trio have been back in training and are seemingly back in contention for this one.

Due to the ongoing Women's European Championship, this particular fixture has been moved to the King Power, but the competative nature of the game will remain.

Ahead of kick-off in the Midlands, here is how Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have lined up their respective sides.
