Manchester City Midfielder Rejects New Contract Chance Despite ‘Incredibly Positive’ Future Talks

Manchester City Midfielder Rejects New Contract Chance Despite ‘Incredibly Positive’ Future Talks

Manchester City's star has REJECTED a new contract despite 'incredibly positive' talks regarding his future.

At the moment, the Manchester City fanbase is over the moon with the club’s transfer business ahead of the new season.

Most importantly, Erling Haaland has joined Julian Alvarez to put an end to the side’s striker woes in emphatic fashion.

In addition, it was revealed on Friday that City are closing on securing the services of Kalvin Phillips as the replacement for c;ub captain Fernandinho.

With Marc Cucurella hinting at a move to the Etihad Stadium on social media, it could mean the club have a successor for the potentially outgoing Oleksandr Zinchenko all lined up.

However, a major blot on City’s summer activity could be Bernardo Silva’s decision to eventually join Barcelona.

It has been widely reported that the Portuguese international is open to a move to Catalonia - which could dent City’s aspirations for silverware on several fronts next term.

Such was the impact of Silva, who emerged as one of, if not the outright best midfielder in Europe during the 2021/22 season.

As the Sky Blues supporters understandably sweat over the player’s future in the North-West of England, new revelations have emerged that detail his chances of staying put.

According to a report by Pol Ballus of the Athletic, it is understood that after informal discussions were held between Manchester City and Bernardo Silva’s agent and family, it was agreed that the ‘best scenario’ would be for the midfielder not to commit to a new contract beyond his current deal that expires in 2025.

However, further details state that all the feedback from Silva’s family is said to have been ‘incredibly positive’ with regards to how the 27-year-old is enjoying his game as well as life in Manchester again.

Additionally, it was also gathered that in terms of City’s style of play, the club continues to be the ‘perfect match’ for the twinkle-toed midfielder.

First things first, an encouraging takeaway is that Silva is enjoying his time in Manchester again.

Being forced to live away from his family and friends during the lockdown in 2020 was reported to be the key reason why he wished to leave the club in the first place.

However, it is unsurprising that there are no complaints from the ex-Monaco star’s side from a footballing perspective.

After all, Silva recently became a Premier League champion for the fourth time in five seasons, while playing an instrumental role in the side’s success once again.

While Barcelona may come calling once again next summer, it seems unlikely that this love affair between Silva and City is set to end anytime soon.

Despite possessing a host of elite midfield options, Silva is certainly up their with the best.

After a slow start to life in Manchester, the diminutive operator has certainly emerged as a key fan favourite.
