Simon Hooper will referee Manchester City's trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Premier League Champions remain two points behind early pacesetters Arsenal in the table, following Wednesday’s impressive 6-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest.

Erling Haaland scored his second hat-trick in as many games, as the Norwegian made it nine goals from his first five Premier League matches.

The 22 year-old scored three first-half goals, as City comfortably overcame Steve Cooper's side.

Julian Alvarez consolidated his first Premier League start with two goals, while Joao Cancelo also found himself on the scoresheet after a stunning long range strike.

The win, which was the Sky Blues' fourth of the season, marked the end of an exciting first month of the campaign for Pep Guardiola's side.

City travel to Villa Park this weekend, with Steven Gerrard's troubled team having won just one match so far this season.

Aston Villa lost 2-1 to Arsenal in midweek and find themselves situated in 19th place, having lost four of their opening five matches.

Ahead of Saturday's clash against the Champions, the Premier League have announced the match officials for the fixture.

The 40 year-old has officiated three matches so far this season, showing 10 yellow cards and no red cards.

Hooper's last game involving Manchester City was in January, when the Blues drew 1-1 with Southampton.

Assistant Referees

Hooper will be accompanied at Villa Park by Assistant Referees Adrian Holmes and Dan Robathan.

Video Assistant Referees

Mike Dean has once again been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee and will be alongside Assistant Video Assistant Referee Lee Betts at Stockley Park.

Fourth Official

Peter Bankes has been named as the Fourth Official for the match, with the referee overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Steven Gerrard and Pep Guardiola.
