Manchester City told how much they will need to pay to sign VfB Stuttgart's Borna Sosa

Following the failed pursuit of now Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella, attentions at Manchester City have moved elsewhere this summer.

Manchester City’s pursuit of a left-back this summer has been there for all to see.

Now, in the latest development on the situation, the Premier League champions have received the transfer fee demands for their newest target.

Left-back has been a sore spot for Pep Guardiola’s side for nearly the entire length of his tenure so far.

Having made only one signing in the position since the summer of 2016, the Catalan manager has been forced to use a variety of players to fill the role.

Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Ake, Fabian Delph, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Joao Cancelo have all featured on the left-defensive flank for Manchester City, despite each of those players being signed to play in different positions.

With Oleksandr Zinchenko’s recent move to Premier League rivals Arsenal, City find themselves with only two senior full-backs in the squad with the opening weekend now upon us.

As a result, the Etihad Stadium hierarchy have embarked on a frantic search to find a suitable left-back to bring in before the window shuts.

Manchester City appeared keen on securing a deal for the now-former Brighton man Marc Cucurella, but with the two clubs unwilling to budge on their vastly different valuations of the Spaniard, a deal fell through.

Following reports from numerous media outlets this week, we can confirm an agreement has been reached with Brighton and Hove Albion for the signing of Marc Cucurella.

Moving on from Cucurella, the Etihad club appear to have set their sights on VfB Stuttgart wide-man Borna Sosa, who has impressed for the German club since their return to the top-flight in 2020.

Sosa’s price tag appears to be a kinder one for the Blues when compared to the finances agreed by Chelsea in their successful drive for Cucurella.

According to a new report from BILD, and relayed by Sport Witness, the Bundesliga club will be in search of a fee between €20 million and €25 million from Manchester City for the 24 year-old’s services.

While reports early in the summer suggested that Italian giants Juventus were also keen on bringing in Sosa, the new report from BILD claims that Manchester City will face no competition for the player.

VfB Stuttgart will demand between €20M and €25M from #ManCity for the transfer of left-back Borna Sosa.

While City have been known to not make any hasty decisions in the transfer market in recent years, the club will start to feel the pressure to get a deal over the line and tie down some more depth in the full-back ranks.

Pep Guardiola’s men kick-off their Premier League campaign this weekend with a trip to East London to face off with West Ham United.
