"It just doesn't make sense!" - Bernardo Silva hits out about Manchester City not receiving enough credit for their achievements

"It just doesn't make sense!" - Bernardo Silva hits out about Manchester City not receiving enough credit for their achievements

Bernardo Silva has admitted strong feelings on the lack of credit Manchester City receive for their Premier League achievements.

Bernardo Silva has admitted his feelings on Manchester City not receiving enough credit for their accomplishments over the course of his time at the club.

To call Pep Guardiola's side dominant as of late would be an understatement, as the club certainly has the silverware to back it up.

Across the last five seasons, Manchester City have won a staggering four Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups, and also made their way to a first ever Champions League final, as well as reaching the semi-final stage last season.

This week however, Bernardo Silva has explained - during an interview with ESPN - how he feels that while Manchester City fans have been more than appreciative, others seem to undermine the achievements of the club.

“From Man City fans, definitely.

"I feel a lot of support, and they show a lot of appreciation for what I do,” said Bernardo Silva.

“From the outside, it's difficult.

"I'm not complaining here, but I feel like other clubs get a lot more credit than Man City for doing less."

The 28 year-old elaborated that during his time with Benfica, people were more than appreciative of the team’s accomplishments - something which has largely failed to happen during his time so far with Manchester City.

“When I was at Benfica - a huge club in Portugal with more fans, more everything - you do something nice, and they make it look like it's great.

"Here at Man City, you do something great and they make it look like it's just good.”

The lack of credit does not just apply to the Blues’ accomplishments, but also to head coach Pep Guardiola and the rest of the team, according to the Portuguese midfielder.

He continued, “We don't have the best manager, we don't have the best players, but we still win four Premier Leagues in five years?

"It just doesn't make sense.”

Bernardo Silva - who himself has been named Manchester City’s Player of the Year in 2018/19, as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Year during the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons, is happy with what the Cityzens have accomplished, but still feels that there is a lack of credit being given.

“For me, it doesn't matter honestly.

He continued, "I'm happy with the titles that we have and with the memories that in the last five years, we won four times.

"Of course, we don't get the credit that we deserve."
