A number of Manchester City’s most highly-rated youngsters departed the club during the most recent summer transfer window in an attempt to prove their worth elsewhere.

Despite being handed first-team appearances here and there, rising full-back CJ Egan-Riley decided to join Vincent Kompany’s Burnley in the Championship.

The likes of Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia signed for Southampton and so far, the pair have impressed in their debut seasons in the Premier League.

Samuel Edozie and Juan Larios have also headed to St. Mary’s on a permanent basis.

After making the matchday squad in Manchester City’s 4-2 win against Crystal Palace, Claudio Gomes also decided to make a switch to Serie B outfit Palermo.

As a number of unearthed gems have banked on their talent in the new season, a name that has been mooted to do the same is Adedire Mebude.

The gifted winger is understood to be stalling on penning a contract extension with the Premier League champions, with his current deal set to run out in 2024.

The teenager is undoubtedly one of the Sky Blues’ most promising talents, known for his frightening pace, quick feet and ability to produce output.

Just last term, Mebude played a key role in the U-18’s league triumph, registering 12 goals and 17 assists throughout the course of the campaign.

The 18-year-old was hailed as the Players’ Player of the Year, which was a testament to how unplayable he was from matchday one.

Promoted to the Elite Development Squad in the 2022/23 season, it is clear to see that the club have a developmental plan in place for the wonderkid.

However, a fresh revelation suggests that a Champions League club are eyeing his signature.

As per a report by Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Adedire Mebude.

However, Antonio Conte’s side face stiff competition from a number of sides to sign the sought-after starlet.

While the likes of Newcastle United and Southampton are fellow sides in the Premier League that have signalled their interest, clubs in other European leagues such as Rangers, PSV Eindhoven and Club Brugge are also keeping tabs on Mebude.

Ultimately, it seems Manchester City still have time on their hands to convince the prodigy to commit his future at the club, with no move coming to fruition for the youngster on transfer deadline day.

Whether Adedire Mebude agrees to do so depends on whether he reckons he has a chance of making the grade at Manchester City in the near future, which seems unlikely at present.
