Chris Eubank Jr's £10,000 bet on the Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders fight came in after the Mexican stopped the Brit at a sold-out AT&T Stadium.

Eubank, who was beaten by Saunders in 2014, put £10,000 on at evens for Canelo to become unified world super-middleweight champion in Dallas, Texas.

And the 31-year-old was £10,000 richer after Saunders was unable to continue after the eighth round.

'Superb' had performed well on the big stage but the punishing power proved too much in the end, with Saunders retiring on the stool and immediately taken to hospital for a suspected broken orbital bone injury.

Eubank placed the hefty bet with bookmakers William Hill a week ago - a day prior to his win over Marcus Morrison - and posted a picture of his slip on social media.

After watching Saunders suffer his first professional defeat and lose his WBO title, Eubank responded on typical fashion by taunting his rival by posting a video of his live reaction.

'Next Gen' can be heard saying, "Give me the ten grand baby" after the bout was stopped prior to the ninth round.

On Twitter, Eubank threw his name in the hat to fight four-weight world champion Canelo, who is now 56-1.

As well as Saunders, Canelo has bested Brits Liam Smith, Rocky Fielding, Amir Khan and Matthew Hatton.

He now has his sights on making it a clean sweep in the super-middleweight division, eyeing a fight with IBF champion Caleb Plant next.
