Billy Joe Saunders Bizarrely Hits Back At Chris Eubank Jr's Drug Claim

Billy Joe Saunders Bizarrely Hits Back At Chris Eubank Jr's Drug Claim

Billy Joe Saunders has aimed a bizarre dig at Chris Eubank Jr after he slammed his rival for pulling out of the Canelo Alvarez fight.

Saunders, 30, ruled himself out of the race to face boxing superstar Canelo in September.

He had been the frontrunner to receive a shot at the Mexican fighter, but the WBO champion has dropped out of contention after citing a lack of time to prepare.

Saunders' former foe Eubank Jr pulled no punches as he posted an extraordinary tweet.

On Twitter, he wrote: "Eddie Hearn already told everyone why my fight with GGG didn't happen. Two months isn't enough time for the drugs Billy Joe Saunders uses to get in shape, to leave his system, so he pulled out of the Canelo fight. Guess he's just gota go back to beating up women again."

Needless to say, Saunders immediately hit back: "The only drugs I use is Viagra for when I dismantle your mum's Fanny," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Canelo is still without an opponent for his September date. Callum Smith, who holds the WBA (super) super-middleweight title could get the call.

And Smith's trainer Joe Gallagher believes Canelo has got no excuses but to fight the Liverpool man.

"It's supposed to have been a two-horse race wasn't it," he said. "Now he's pulling himself out of it, Canelo has got no excuse now, but to fight Callum Smith.

"Callum is in the gym, he is training, he's been back a couple of weeks now, and if that date and opportunity is put to Callum Smith, he's ready to go. He'll take that and I can't see no reason why Canelo - when they said all along it was between the two of them - Billy Joe Saunders is out, let's do Callum."
