Jake Paul reveals plans for shock career change amid boxing absence

It's been over 200 days since Paul last entered the boxing ring, but he's got plans for another sport and teams are reportedly interested.

Jake Paul has revealed that he is looking to make a surprise career change and compete in another sport and he's already got some offers.

Following a successful career as a YouTube star, Paul made the venture into boxing in August 25, 2018, facing Deji, the younger brother of KSI, in a amateur boxing event in Manchester.

Since then, Paul has gone on to become arguably one of the biggest names in boxing, securing wins in professional bouts against the likes of Nate Diaz, Mike Perry and Mike Tyson.

In his last fight, Paul suffered a double jaw break during a sixth-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua back in December last year.

Since then, the 29-year-old has remained relatively quiet in the boxing scene, with his potential plans for returning to the ring unknown.

But now, Paul has revealed that he's already making plans for a career in American football, claiming he can easily join the NFL once he's done with boxing.

Revealing his plans, he told Front Office Sports, "I mean, It’s pretty simple. Just like when I started boxing, it's funny to see the Tweet and deleters out there, the non-believers, the naysayers, shout out to Drake.

"I think there's a lot of super mediocrity in the NFL, a lot of not-good athletes, a lot of people dropping passes on a consistent basis.

"I have better hands than them, I'm faster than them, I'm stronger than them, I work harder than them. Really, all it's going to take is just me, after boxing, practising some routes."

Jake Paul tells NFL team to 'reserve the jersey' ahead of sudden career change

Despite Paul's enthusiasm, it's hard to imagine that he would be able to easily make it into an NFL team given his lack of professional experience in the sport and his age.

But, according to the man himself, there are already conversations underway to make his dream of playing in the NFL true at some point in the future.

He added: "I have a couple of teams and coaches that I've already talked to that are already interested in bringing me onto the team. It's really going to be quite easy."

And when asked which team he'd ideally like to play for, he only had one in mind and he's clearly confident of making it happen.

"I'd love to go to the Cleveland Browns," he said.

"Been a Browns fan my whole entire life. My mum is a die-hard Browns fan, and I think they could use some good receivers over there.

"Number 17 of the Browns, reserve the jersey now. Thank you."

Paul's latest comments come after he previously mentioned hopes of playing American football back in June, revealing that he thinks he would best perform as a slot receiver, suggesting he may first look to gain some experience with the Stanford Cardinal NCAA Division college team before venturing into the NFL.
