Conor McGregor shows support for Ryan Garcia in his dressing room after Gervonta Davis defeat

Conor McGregor shows support for Ryan Garcia in his dressing room after Gervonta Davis defeat

Ryan Garcia suffered his first defeat against Gervonta Davis on Saturday night

Conor McGregor visited Ryan Garcia’s dressing room after the American was defeated by Gervonta Davis.

On Saturday, inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, Davis managed to inflict Garcia’s first professional defeat with a knockout victory.

Although Garcia started strong, Davis grew into the contest and in the seventh round, the bout was stopped after Davis landed a huge body shot, Garcia was still down after the referee counted to 10.

After the bout, McGregor was captured inside Garcia’s dressing room. You can watch the footage below.

The MMA star was heard saying: “He’s 1-0 on you. You’re the two biggest names in the division, I wanna see it again.

“I wanna see it again now and I wanna see it with no rehydration clause.

“All the respect in the world to you, you’re the future.”

Reflecting on his defeat, Garcia said: “I thought I had him pretty hurt to be honest.

“But that’s what I get. I was impatient and I got caught. I ran into an overhand left.”

The 24-year-old added: “He caught me with a good body shot and I just couldn’t recover. I couldn’t breathe. I just couldn’t get up…

“Tank is a great fighter. I take my hat off to him. We talked a lot of s***, but it’s all love at the end of the day. I was honoured to be in the ring with a great fighter and I respect him a lot.”

Davis expressed his delight after remaining undefeated, he said: “I remember coming up in the Golden Gloves and seeing [Floyd Mayweather Jr] fight at the MGM.

“It was crazy. I actually just saw Rihanna perform at the Super Bowl, and I thought that’s going to be me one day. And we’re here.”

He added: “I’m definitely the face of boxing.”

Garcia will now go back to the drawing board as he looks to improve and win his next bout.
