BREAKING: KSI result over Joe Fournier has been overturned

KSI appeared to knockout his opponent last Saturday with a huge shot but replays clearly showed he caught Fournier with an elbow

The decision to award KSI a knockout victory over Joe Fournier last weekend has been overturned, after the YouTuber caught his opponent with an elbow.

On first look it seemed that KSI had delivered a brilliant knockout blow to Fournier in the main event of Misfits boxing at Wembley arena.

However replays showed that the social media star had actually missed the punch and accidentally caught the businessman with his elbow on the follow through.

The Professional Boxing Association who commissioned the fight have now overturned the decision from the referee to allow the knockout.

They have decided that the accidental nature of the elbow means that the 'winner' has not been disqualified but the result has now been changed to a 'No Decision.'

In a statement, the PBA said, "Today, on 19th May 2023 Mr Joe Fournier and KSI were advised of a ‘Reviewed Decision’ that was undertaken by Mr Gareth Morris, the referee in charge of the bout on Saturday 13th May 2023 at the OVO Arena, Wembley, London, United Kingdom.

"Mr Fournier had submitted a protest and KSI responded following KSI’s Technical Knockout win in the second round of the fight.

"After a thorough review of the evidence and representations, along with the assistance of Mr Micky Vann (the Supervisor in charge) and an eminent Barrister (Mr Gul Nawaz Hussain KC of 33 Bedford Row Chambers, London) where necessary, Mr Morris came to an independent decision.

"Even though KSI was winning the fight, the blow with the forearm/elbow has been found to be accidental and the obvious disappointment that will follow, it has been decided that the contest is declared a No Decision in accordance with the Rules.

"The PBA has conducted the review properly, fairly and with legal assistance throughout as the bout was sanctioned and regulated under the unified rules of boxing.

"We have ensured that this process was conducted swiftly and fairly to uphold the integrity of boxing.”

In his own statement before the decision was reversed KSI, real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji had claimed that he'd made contact with his glove before the accidental elbow.

The night was marred by controversy after YouTuber Boogie2988 had to have his boxing shorts taped up during a fight with WingsofRedemption in a match up that didn't belong in the sport.

Later in the night Tommy Fury was involved in a brawl with fellow former Love Island contestant and Misfits boxing regular Idris Virgo in the crowd.
