US Marine fought Finnish soldier in boxing match and one man completely dominated the other

The result of the match was quite something.

The United States and Finland currently have a good relationship, following the strategic importance of the Nordic nation during the Cold War between the U.S. and Russia from 1947 to 1991.

However, despite the current warm political relationship between the two nations, some of their most revered military personnel have still gone to battle in a boxing ring.

During one event, in the red corner, it was Finnish soldier Jari Keskinen, while U.S. Marine Greg Hoesing stood at the other side of the ring in the blue corner, ahead of battle.

The American Hoesing stood at six feet and weighed in at 216 lbs, which meant he would’ve been classed as a heavyweight in the professional ranks.

But he looked relatively small compared to his Finnish opponent, who weighed in at a whopping 252 lbs and stood two inches taller than Hoesing.

And as soon as the bell rang, Keskinen was on the front foot and took control of the bout, while Hoesing threw punches more in hope than expectation of them making contact with his opponent.

It wasn’t long before the bigger of the two men made his physical attributes pay when, in the first round, he knocked his opponent to the ground with a right hand before Hoesing rose to his feet only to be knocked down once again seconds before the bell, which signalled the end of round one.

In round two, the onslaught continued, before the American was floored once again by Keskinen.

Soon after, the referee jumped in and stopped the fight with the commentator explaining how he felt “it was a good stoppage” as Keskinen raised his arms to salute the fans gathered inside the venue.

So, you may be questioning what would happen if a U.S. Marine fought against a member of the British SAS.

Welll, in 1998, Universal Warriors promoted an event called the Commando Knock-out Challenge, which took place in a pentagon-shaped ring.

The SAS was represented by a former instructor named Carl Richardson, while the Marines put Matthew Ortiz forward.

"I’m gonna bring America back to Britain and show [them] who’s boss," warned Richardson.

Ortiz hit back and said: "We kicked the British out once – and we’ll do it again."

And as the old saying goes, ‘talk is cheap’ as the American was knocked out by his British opponent.

16 U.S military personnel also competed against 16 foreign soldiers from countries such as Spain, Ukraine, Canada, Cuba, Russia and Estonia and the results were interesting to say the least. Five fights in all ended in draws. Of the remaining bouts, the USA won six to claim the commando crown.
