Eddie Hall, the former World's Strongest Man, has explained how a heated conversation with John Fury led to his upcoming bout against Tommy Fury.
In an announcement that took many by surprise, it was confirmed on Friday evening that Tommy "TNT" Fury will make his boxing return against Hall at an event in Manchester on June 13.
Fury, who has not fought since a unanimous-decision win over Kenan Hanjalic in May 2025, weighed in at 208 pounds for that bout in Budapest.
Hall, meanwhile, has only boxed once before, losing to fellow strongman Hafthor Julius Bjornsson in a 2022 exhibition fight.

The 38-year-old also took part in an MMA contest against Mariusz Pudzianowski in April 2025 and tipped the scales at 334 pounds, meaning there will likely be a significant weight difference for the fight against Fury.

Given how friendly the pair have been in the not-so-distant past, with Fury appearing on Hall's YouTube channel, many were left scratching their heads when the contest was announced.
Hall has since confirmed that an exchange with John Fury at the premiere of Tommy's documentary series The Good. The Bad. The Fury led to the fight being made.
In short, Hall agitated John after he called out former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury for an MMA fight.
"I bumped into John and I had the conversation about fighting Tyson, I saw he was training MMA," he said on his YouTube channel. "I was trying to instigate the fight, but it rubbed him up the wrong way. Things got a little heated.
"I basically said in the end... you’re all full of s**t. You’re just all full of f***ing talk. You all walk around like hard men like you’re gonna beat this guy down, beat that guy down, you’ll fight anyone, you’re fighting men. There’s not a lot of action, especially from John."
Hall continued: “I’d like to shut your dad up and put you in your place, and then maybe I’ll get the Tyson Fury MMA fight. Sorry it has come to this, but sometimes men have to settle their differences.
"This is not a friendly encounter," he added. "I want to go in there and prove a point.”
