Devin Haney's father has been slammed for his 'disgraceful' prediction for his son's fight against Ryan Garcia.

Haney defends his WBC super-lightweight title against Garcia, who is ineligible to compete for the belt after he missed weight.

The 25-year-old explained why he failed to hit the 140lbs mark as he lost a staggering $1.5 million bet to his opponent.

Despite the star fighter's erratic behaviour, he passed his 'mental health evaluation' that was requested by the New York commission.

Ahead of Haney and Garcia sharing the ring, the world champion's father, Bill, has given his prediction for the clash and it hasn't gone down well among fight fans on social media.

Bill shockingly said they want to send Garcia to the hospital badly beaten and 'close to death'.

Speaking to a group of reporters, he exclaimed: "We want Ryan Garcia to go to the hospital. We want him f**ked up... we want him beat up... close to death."

He added: "Kids shouldn't watch this unless they are with their parents. You're looking at a man that's being sent in to kill another man. That's what Devin Haney is being sent in to do to Ryan Garcia."

Needless to say, people online felt Bill crossed the line with his pre-fight comment as they made their feelings known.

One X user wrote: "It’s all wrong in my opinion. I don’t know if he is trying to sell the fight but for me, he has unsold it. Disgraceful."

A second slammed: "What an uneducated, idiotic thing to say."

A third tweeted: "Worse than anything Garcia has said or done."

A fourth said: "Love boxing but this is a load of shit and totally not needed."

Another commented: "It needs to condemned by promoters and the commissions."

The fight will be shown live on DAZN PPV in the UK, as well as 200 other countries, and you can purchase the event for £19.99. You can also subscribe to DAZN for £9.99-per-month, which will commit you to an annual subscription.

A more flexible monthly option is priced at £19.99, which allows you to cancel at any time. However, the cheapest way to subscribe is by paying for the annual membership upfront - which is £99.

The fight can be streamed on your mobile or tablet device and is also on DAZN 1 (Sky channel 429).

Fans can purchase tickets from the link here. The cheapest option currently on offer is around £111 ($140) to attend the event.
