Ryan Garcia has revealed the reason why he missed weight for his fight against Devin Haney.

Garcia will take on Haney at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night but the bout was thrown into doubt on Friday during the weigh-ins.

Garcia weighed in at 143 lbs which is 3.1 lbs over the limit.

Taking to social media, Garcia went on to reveal why he missed the required weigh for the fight.

He wrote: “Why would I force my self to make weight so I can be weak. Nah I’m here to win. That’s it.”

In a statement, Golden Boy Boxing said: “Ryan has weighed in over his contractual weight.

“He will honor the handshake made at the final press conference yesterday. We have a fight.”

On Friday, Garcia also wrote on social media: “I feel great and I got a 3 pound advantage. Let’s gooo hahahahaa. Winners do what they have to do I’m still sharp.”

The fight will be shown live on DAZN PPV in the UK, as well as 200 other countries, and you can purchase the event for £19.99. You can also subscribe to DAZN for £9.99-per-month, which will commit you to an annual subscription.

A more flexible monthly option is priced at £19.99, which allows you to cancel at any time. However, the cheapest way to subscribe is by paying for the annual membership upfront - which is £99.

The fight can be streamed on your mobile or tablet device and is also on DAZN 1 (Sky channel 429).
