Chris Eubank Jr. is facing an investigation from the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) following his victory over Conor Benn.

Eubank Jr. edged out Benn by unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

The scorecards left boxing fans baffled following the thrilling all-British showdown.

Eubank Jr. and Benn pocketed huge purses from their grudge match but the 35-year-old had to forfeit a huge chunk of his pay after missing the 160lbs limit at the official weigh-ins.

He missed weight by the narrowest of margins, having undergone a gruelling weight cut that was documented on social media.

Eubank Jr. took to social media to share his radical weight cut techniques, which included using a heat suit and the sauna.

Under the BBBofC regulations, those crash-weight practices are prohibited.

As a result, an investigation into Eubank Jr.'s weight cutting methods has been launched.

On the star boxer's weight cut, BBBofC chief Robert Smith told Boxing Scene: "The problem arose because he was late for the weigh-in. If he’d have got there on time, considering he was only slightly over, he’d have made weight.

"I don’t know what they were doing. But by turning up late, it meant he had very little time to get down to the contracted weight."

Smith added: "We had no concerns. Eubank was on track to make 160lbs. We keep records of previous fights, and the trajectory of Eubank’s weight loss was very similar to how it’s been in the past.

"It is an ongoing matter."

Eubank Jr., who has fought as high as super-middleweight, has campaigned at middleweight in his last few outings.

But he failed to meet the weight requirements for his fight against Benn.

There is a rematch clause in place as Eddie Hearn has called for Eubank Jr. to come down two weight classes for a potential second meeting.

"I think maybe [Chris Eubank] Jr. should come down a little bit lower rather than Conor Benn coming up two weight classes," the Matchroom promoter said during the post-fight press conference.

"This was negotiated by Ring Magazine and Eubank individually and we negotiated our contract individually. Chris Eubank, Ban Shalom, Mazhar [Majee], they accepted those terms.

"That's the art of a contract and the plan is to abide by those terms. So, for me, the terms were spot on as you saw tonight. You saw a very evenly matched fight where a big 160-pounder nearly made his championship weight."
