Conor McGregor teased that he managed to hit Floyd Mayweather "a lot" during their huge inter-promotional boxing match.

UFC superstar McGregor took on the undefeated Mayweather in a losing effort back in 2017.

The fight was stopped in the 10th round but The Mirror claim that McGregor told 'Money' the contest should have continued.

"I punched you a lot in the early rounds," the Irishman said to Mayweather as they embraced.

"Your composure is great though, fair play to you."

He then went on to joke the fight came, "a little early" for McGregor to pick up a win.

The fight was dubbed "The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History" and it ended up being the second highest-grossing, behind Mayweather's victory over Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

Mayweather dominated throughout but McGregor remains convinced that he would win a rematch.

He told TMZ: "I would like to rematch him under boxing rules, again.

"And I believe I would win. Actually, there I go again with that fake humbleness. I know I would win!

"When I went into the fight, in the early rounds I was whooping him, in the early rounds. I went back to my corner after the first round and I said, 'This is easy!'... and then he had to switch up his style."

The bad blood between the two still exists to this day and Mayweather launched a fresh attack following McGregor's retirement from the UFC.

McGregor shared an image to Instagram, which Mayweather then commented on, referencing boxing legend Mike Tyson's claim that the former 'Champ-champ' could have beaten him in a rematch.

The unbeaten fighter wrote in the comments: "If I'm not mistaken, didn't you tell Mike Tyson you could beat me if we fought a second time? Now you're quitting!

"I thought you wanted to beat the best? Well, if you decide to come back, I will be waiting to punish you again."

A rematch has been rumoured for years and McGregor has admitted he'd like to get back in the ring.
