F1 Driver Romain Grosjean Gives Health Update From Hospital After Terrifying Crash

It's one of the scariest F1 crashes we've seen in a long time.

But thankfully, Haas driver Romain Grosjean escaped unharmed.

The Frenchman had to be pulled out of the blazing wreckage after his car burst into flames following a 137mph crash on the opening lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Grosjean was rushed to hospital as motorsport fans from around the globe held their collective breath.

Sporting massive bandages for his burnt hands, the 34-year-old took to social media not long after the crash to give his fans an update on his health condition.

"Hello everyone, I just wanted to say I am OK - well, sort of OK," Grosjean said.

"Thank you very much for all the messages. I wasn't for the halo some years ago, but I think it's the greatest thing that we've brought to Formula 1, and without it I wouldn't be able to speak with you today.

"So thanks to all the medical staff at the circuit, at the hospital, and hopefully I can write you quite soon some messages and tell you how it's going."

Formula One fans, experts and former drivers have thrown their support behind Grosjean following the nasty crash.

And even the current batch of drivers, who witnessed the incident first hand, were quick to reach out - seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton being one of them.

"It was such a shocking image to see," Hamilton said after the race.

"The thing is when I get in the car I know that I'm taking risk.

"I respect the dangers that are in this sport. I think I posted about it while we were in that break because I mean it's horrifying.

"The cockpit, I don't know what Gs he pulled but I'm just so grateful that the halo worked and the barrier didn't slice his head off or something like that.

"It could have been so much worse. It's a reminder to us and hopefully to the people that are watching that this is a dangerous sport.

"That's why we're out there pushing to the limit and playing with that limit. You also have to respect it.

"I think it shows the amazing job that Formula One and the FIA have done over time to be able to walk away from that.

"Of course that will be investigated and they'll do a lot of work to make sure that doesn't happen again."
