3D simulation shows what would happen in a 200m race between Usain Bolt and Gout Gout after 17-year-old sensation sets new record

Gout Gout recently set a new Australian record.

A 3D simulation show what would happen in a 200m race between Usain Bolt and Gout Gout after the 17-year-old phenom set a new record.

Gout set a new Australian record with victory in the men's 200m on his senior international debut at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava.

The teenage sprint sensation clocked 20.02 seconds in his first European meeting of his budding career.

Speaking after his stunning showing, Gout said: "I feel good. New personal best, new national record in my first European race.

"I don't feel any pressure. Because as soon as I step out on that track, it's just me by myself and what I've got to do - my favourite thing, and that's to run.

"I just go out there and run and nothing stops me from doing that. (I need to) Get some more races in me and (the 20-second barrier) will drop for sure."

Gout has been likened to Olympic legend and sprint icon Bolt, who registered a time of 20.28 seconds on his first Golden Spike meet in 2006.

Bolt enjoyed a legendary sprint career, winning an impressive eight Olympic gold medals and is still the 100m and 200m world record holder following his blistering performances in Berlin at the World Championships in Athletics.

How would Gout fare against a Bolt? Well, YouTuber MotionAthlete has simulated a race between the two sprinters.

The 3D animator and motion designer has modelled the speed of the Australian starlet against Bolt's at 16-years-old, answering the question of whether teenager is on track to challenge the Jamaican's 200m record.

The 3D simulation rewinds Bolt's performance to 2003 and races it against Gout based on typical race patterns.

Bolt is slower out of the blocks than Gout but tears past him in time to clock a 50m split of 5.89 seconds compared to his counterpart's 6.06 seconds.

From there, Bolt streaks away, hitting 100m at 10.33 seconds while Gout is there at 10.69 seconds.

By the 150m mark, Gout is just a tenth of a second behind Bolt and closing in on his opponent.

The simulation ends with Gout overtaking Bolt in an explosive finish, blasting past him to take gold with that 20.04-second personal best almost a tenth of a second faster than 16-year-old Bolt's time of 20.13 seconds.
