Australian sprint sensation Gout Gout had a seriously impressive response when asked about the comparisons with Usain Bolt.
Following his emergence in 2023, many have tipped Australian sprinter Gout Gout to go on and dominate the sport in a way that hasn't been seen since Bolt called it quits on his career after the 2017 World Championships.
Born in Brisbane in 2007, it didn't take Gout Gout long to establish himself as one of the most exciting young athletes in the world, as he ran 100m in a breathtaking 10.57s at the age of 14.

Since then, the Australian has only improved his times in both the 100m and 200m events, leading to many claiming he will be the one to finally break the long-standing records set by Olympic legend Bolt years ago.
And ahead of his impressive performance in his European debut, the 17-year-old spoke about the comparisons with Bolt.

For the first time in his career, Gout Gout arrived in Europe this week to compete in the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold event at the Ostrava Golden Spike in Czechia.

Of course, this being his European debut brought even more media attention to the youngster than normal, and with this came questions about resemblance of his style to Bolt’s and the comparisons between the pair.
Speaking about being compared to Bolt, Gout Gout admitted: “It definitely feels great, I’ve heard that a lot of sprinters run here really good. I know Usain Bolt ran here nine times, so the event clearly has a great tradition."
“Who doesn’t want to be Usain Bolt? Being compared to Usain Bolt feels great but I would like to put my personality in the upcoming story.”
And the comparisons with Bolt are only likely to increase after Gout Gout set a new personal record while also smashed the Australian national record during the 200m race on Tuesday in Czechia.

Despite entering the race as the underdog, Gout Gout won the race with a breathtaking time of 20.02 seconds ahead of race favourite Reynier Mena who ran 20.19s.
The finish takes him within just two hundredths of a second of reaching a sub 20-second time, something that Bolt achieved back in April 2004 when he was also 17 years old.
As it stands, Gout's time is 0.83 seconds behind Bolt's world record 200m time of 19.19 seconds, which was set at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.
