Arsenal Reportedly Close To Signing Portuguese Star Fabio Vieira

According to Portuguese sources, Arsenal are close to signing Fabio Vieira from FC Porto.

According to sources in Portugal, Arsenal's transfer window has been struck into life with the reported signing of 22-year-old FC Porto star, Fabio Vieira.

According to reliable Portuguese source, Pedro Sepulveda, Arsenal have reached an agreement with the Portuguese champions to sign the midfielder for a fee of around €40m. Sepulveda also confirmed Vieira will be travelling to London in the next few hours to complete his move to Arsenal.

The midfielder has previously been linked to Liverpool but a move never materialised. However a move to Arsenal has emerged completely out of the blue, with no strong links between the player and the Gunners until now.

Mikel Arteta will be looking to add depth to his squad and Fabio Vieira is adept in a number of positions. The 22-year-old mainly plays in the attacking-midfielder position but has played on the right-wing also, possibly providing cover and competition for both Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

Despite making just 15 starts for Porto in the Primeira Liga this season, Vieira struck six goals and an impressive 14 assists, the highest in the division. There is no doubt the midfielder will add quality to Arsenal's attack.

Arsenal fans have enjoyed a day full of transfer news, with a potential break-through for Gabriel Jesus reported earlier and links for Youri Tielemans continuing. However, the speed and secrecy on which Arsenal have acted to complete this move will be extremely encouraging for the fan-base as Arsenal look to be kicking off their Summer business.
