Jack Wilshere Says Richarlison 'Wouldn't Get In Arsenal XI' As £60 Million Spurs Move Nears

Richarlison is close to sealing a move to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Jack Wilshere believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s new £60 million signing would not make it into their North London rivals’ starting XI.

Richarlison’s move to Spurs from Everton is all but confirmed, however Wilshere doesn’t think the 25-year-old would improve his old club’s lineup.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Arsenal man said: “Yeah [I’d have him at Arsenal]. I don’t think he gets in the XI. He definitely would challenge for it and would be a good part of the squad. But I don’t think he gets in the XI.”

If a move to the red side of North London did materialise, Richarlison would be playing in an already-crowded Arsenal attack.

The Brazilian international would find himself competing with his fellow countrymen, Gabriel Jesus, soon to be announced, and Gabriel Martinelli, as well as the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe for a regular spot in the Arsenal front three.

Juggling between his attackers is already a challenge Gunners boss Mikel Arteta faces and signing Richarlison would surely have added to his selection headache.

Despite saying Spurs’ new signing would not get into the Arsenal XI, Wilshere admitted he could be a good signing for Tottenham if he unlocks his potential.

“He’s 25, so he’s not young. There comes a point where he’s going to have to turn all that potential into something. To be fair if anyone can do it it’s probably Antonio Conte.”

However, Wilshere did admit that he is not “gutted” Spurs are signing the Brazilian.

“I wouldn’t say I was devastated as an Arsenal fan but I think he will be one to watch.”

With Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski already playing prominent parts in Spurs’ new look side under Conte, it will be interesting to see where and when Richarlison gets gametime for his new side.
