According to GOAL Brazil, Arsenal have made contact with the camp of Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

In the report by Raisa Simplicio and Thiago Fernandes, it is claimed Arsenal are considering an 'attack' on the midfielder.

Arsenal are interested in signing Paqueta and Edu Gaspar, technical director, has informed the player's camp of their intention to submit a bid.

It is thought Lyon are asking for €80m for the player.

The report mentions however, that the club appreciate it would be difficult to receive such a fee.

Paqueta is contracted until 2025, strengthening Lyon's position.

Rumours surrounding Paqueta started late last week.

Reports in France claimed Arsenal's interest in the Brazilian, with some also claiming Paqueta had requested a transfer away from Lyon this summer.

Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in the player, but that hasn't progressed as of yet.

Paqueta is an interesting player.

The 24-year-old arrived in France in 2020, after struggling at AC Milan.

Since then, he has taken stride after stride and is now a regular starter for the Brazilian national team.

Paqueta can play in a multitude of positions, something that would definitely interest Mikel Arteta.

His most common position is likely in attacking midfield, however some claim his best performances come from left-sided central-midfield.

This is where he'd likely play in the Arsenal team.

Paqueta can also play on the wings, and potentially provide cover for Bukayo Saka.

However, this isn't a position he plays often.

It is also worth noting the midfielder is left-footed, a trait that seems very common among Arteta's targets.

Whether Arsenal make a move for the Brazilian or not remains to be seen. They are looking to improve this summer and are certainly not afraid of splashing the cash.
