Alonso, Zaha, Gallagher, Aubameyang: Chelsea handed double Crystal Palace update as transfer meeting scheduled

Ahead of Thursday’s 11pm (BST) transfer deadline, Chelsea are still working on getting several deals over the line.

Thomas Tuchel has already made six summer signings but wants more before the transfer window shuts on Thursday as he eyes at least another defender and forward.

Wesley Fofana’s arrival is imminent, while talks remain going with several clubs for forwards to bolster the attacking line.

The Chelsea head coach has admitted he wants more signings, saying: “Right now I think we could need some more players in some positions. It’s very close to the end of the transfer window and when 1 September comes I will be a happy coach no matter what happens. I will try to find solutions and not think about what might have happened or what could be.”

Several departures are being finalised, but many are still being discussed and Absolute Chelsea has the latest on the futures of Marcos Alonso, Wilfried Zaha, Conor Gallagher and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Marcos Alonso

Barcelona are going to make a late move for Marcos Alonso in one last attempt to land the Spain international, as reported by ESPN.

It appeared he was on the verge of a switch early in the transfer window but the interest cooled as Barcelona looked to register other signings first.

The 31-year-old has been left out of Tuchel’s squad at the start of the season due to wanting to finalise a move to Spain.

Wilfried Zaha

Chelsea have expressed an interest in Zaha in the final week of the window as a potential alternative to Everton’s Anthony Gordon, however no contact has been made with Crystal Palace, The Telegraph has reported.

A move is unlikely though, with the Evening Standard claiming Palace are reluctant to let him leave this late on in the window despite him being in the final year of his deal.

Conor Gallagher

The Times reported that a £27 million bid had been made for Conor Gallagher by Crystal Palace, however The Telegraph states that no offer has been made for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Palace are considering a late move, while West Ham, Everton and Newcastle United have all shown loan interest in the £50 million-rated star.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

A key meeting is scheduled for Tuesday between the clubs, according to several reports, to try to find a solution. As reported by ESPN, Barcelona are confident of striking an agreement with Chelsea for the 33-year-old.

The Telegraph report that Aubameyang wants a three-year contract which Chelsea are not prepared to do. However, Aubameyang is keen on a switch back to the capital after leaving Arsenal in January.

Fabrizio Romano claims Aubameyang is just waiting on the two clubs to agree a fee.
