Inter Milan Willing To Offer Chelsea Discount In Milan Skriniar Pursuit

Chelsea have received a boost in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar with Inter Milan willing to offer the Blues a discount, according to reports.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea have been chasing centre-backs this summer in an attempt to bolster their weakened backline. 

With Andreas Christensen’s move to Barcelona seemingly imminent and Antonio Rudiger’s transfer on a free to Real Madrid already completed, Chelsea have gaps to fill.

It has been reported that Tuchel has been eyeing up Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Ake as key figures in the rebuild.

There has also been a long-term link to Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and more recently Chelsea have been claimed to be showing interest in Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. 

Fabrizio Romano has also previously confirmed that the Blues are set to sign two centre-backs this summer.

It is likely that those two will come from this list, however, even though De Ligt is the number one priority, Juventus’ refusal to budge may lead Chelsea to needing to look elsewhere.

This has resulted in Milan Skriniar’s name being thrown back in the hat as a potential option.

The Slovakian was an extremely reliable option at the back last season for Inter, appearing in 35 games as they finished second in Serie A.

While Paris Saint-Germain have been the clear favourites to sign the Slovakian practically without any competition, Chelsea may now have an edge over them.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter could be ‘very accommodating’ towards Chelsea.

The reason behind the ‘special treatment’ for the Blues would be because of Romelu Lukaku’s recent transfer to the Italian side.

Inter would be open to giving a discount to Chelsea should they choose to pursue Skriniar.

The Serie A side are reported to not be too anxious about the transfer status of Skriniar, and should Chelsea go for him, not much would change.

For the player, he is not too fussed, although he may prefer a move to Paris, he will ‘not get in the way’ of a potential transfer.

Due to the discount the Blues may receive, Paris are going to have to step up their game, they will have to offer more than Chelsea are planning on.

There is a big decision to be made by the London side, do they opt to continue fighting for their current targets, or do they shift their priority from De Ligt to potentially sorting a cheaper deal for Skriniar.
