Todd Boehly’s vision for Chelsea has been revealed as the Blues are targeting signing young players for the future this summer.

The Blues started slowly in the transfer window, with other off-the-field issues taking priority as Chelsea saw Marina Granovskaia, Petr Cech and Bruce Buck all depart.

Boehly named himself as interim sporting director, promising to make a permanent appointment before the January transfer window next year.

The American then travelled Europe to undergo meetings with several key players in the transfer market, including super agent Jorge Mendes, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Barcelona’s executives.

The signing of Raheem Sterling soon came, with the Blues completing a £50 million deal from Manchester City before Kalidou Koulibaly arrived from Napoli for a fee of £34 million.

In recent days, Chelsea have completed the signing of Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire, with the 18-year-old returning on loan to complete the MLS season.

Furthermore, Carney Chukwuemeka is set to sign for Chelsea following the Blues agreeing a £20 million fee with Aston Villa for the youngster.

With top clubs such as AC Milan, Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona interested in the midfielder, Boehly’s vision for the future has been revealed.

As reported by Nizaar Kinsell of The Evening Standard, the new owners, Boehly and Clearlake Capital, are keen to invest in young players this summer.

The report continues to reveal that Boehly is keen to back Chelsea academy boss Neil Bath this summer as they look to build the youth squads with players that can make it at the club in the future.

It was revealed that Chelsea are lining up a third bid for 19-year-old Casare Casadei from Inter Milan.

This is because the new owners are keen to line up young midfielders to prepare for life after N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

The pair’s contracts expire at the end of next season, with Chelsea keen to learn from the past as they lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger this summer.

The Blues have looked at several targets to replace the duo, with the club now keen to bring in promising youngsters in midfield as they hope that they can make the step up to the first team in the future, saving money in future transfer windows.

It remains to be seen as to whether Chelsea will target other youngsters to build up their academy

RB Salzburg youngster Benjamin Sesko has been linked with a move to the club also, as Boehly is planning to build for the future.
