Thomas Tuchel Doesn't Expect Armando Broja Exit Despite West Ham Making Him Top Priority

Thomas Tuchel Doesn't Expect Armando Broja Exit Despite West Ham Making Him Top Priority

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has provided an update regarding the future of Armando Broja after West Ham submitted a £30 million bid.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has provided an update regarding the future of Armando Broja after West Ham submitted a bid for the striker.

The 20-year-old joined up with Tuchel’s side in the United States tour last week, but injured himself in training, resulting in the striker missing the 2-1 win over Club America

It was previously reported that the Albanian international is set to join West Ham United on a permanent deal, requesting to leave Chelsea’s pre-season tour.

After scoring six Premier League goals for Southampton last season, Broja was said to have a desire to be playing regular first-team football as a starter, something which West Ham would offer him if he is to leave Chelsea.

Negotiations are said to be ongoing over a fee, with the £30 million offer from the Irons as £25 million upfront, and £5 million in instalments.

Speaking to the press as Chelsea face Charlotte FC on Thursday, Tuchel sent a message to his attackers ahead of next season.

He said: "It is easier this season with five changes and it is very likely these will be used on attacking players. This can play a huge role in giving minutes. We are also keen to find a starting line-up and mixture that is good together."

The German then continued to discuss Broja’s situation separately, admitting that Chelsea have received offers for the forward.

"I don't expect Armando to leave,” he stated. “We are aware of offers. We are aware of interest.

“That tells us his potential. We will take this decision together, the owners and me with the player.

"When he arrived it was clear he was trying to become a Chelsea player as soon as possible. After his loan in Southampton, the situation was clear to make the next step and show his improvement."

The head coach revealed later on that the club will make a decision about whether to keep, sell or loan Broja, working with the player to decide on the best solution.

He said: "I think we have a lot of options but not the type of player Armando is. We have to weigh up our interest, the players interest and what is good for the club. We can talk about it. Is there a prospect of getting minutes?

"Players like Armando, who already played Premier League minutes need more. Players like Harvey Vale, it can be okay for a year to adapt to intensity, physicality and speed. At some point you need games."

The latest reports have stated that West Ham will not give up in their pursuit of the striker this summer.

As reported by The Evening Standard, Broja is West Ham’s top priority in the transfer window as boss David Moyes wants to bring him to the club.

Chelsea and Tuchel may be reluctant to let a deal happen, with Broja and West Ham pushing, their hands could be tied.

It remains to be seen as to whether Broja will return to the pre-season squad or continue his recovery at Cobham, or potentially move to east London this summer.
