Silva, Chilwell, James, Sterling, Aubameyang: Potter make Chelsea fitness admission ahead of AC Milan clash

Silva, Chilwell, James, Sterling, Aubameyang: Potter make Chelsea fitness admission ahead of AC Milan clash

Graham Potter has provided a fitness update about Silva, Chilwell, James, Sterling, Aubameyang before AC Milan clash.

Graham Potter has issued a fitness update regarding Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of the AC Milan clash.

Chelsea welcomed Wolves to Stamford Bridge on Saturday and put in a convincing performance to defeat them 3-0.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring at the end of the first half with a looping header that drifted over Jose Sa from a Mason Mount delivery.

Mount was once again the provider in the second half when he played Christian Pulisic in behind who coolly slotted he strike into the back of the net.

In the closing moments of the game Armando Broja made it three with a powerful shot to score his first goal for the Blues.

There was a lot of rotation to the side that had defeated AC Milan in midweek in the Champions League.

Potter made a total of seven changes to the squad, putting his faith in his teams squad depth.

It was evidently a successful decision, with players who had maybe not had so much game time put in good performances.

With the important reverse fixture coming on Tuesday against the Italian giants, the 47-year-old will be hopeful of another good result.

The Blues certainly have some momentum built up coming into this one, along with the wins against Wolves and AC Milan they also beat Crystal Palace last weekend.

Currently Potter is unbeaten in his time as head coach, winning three games and drawing once.

In the Champions League the west London side are sitting on four points from their first three games so they need to pick up more points in Italy.

Potter will likely be fielding the most dependable and experienced players in this one.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he provided a fitness update for some of the players who were benched.

He said: "Thiago has had a heavy cold but played against Milan. With two days to recover, that was short so we didn't want to take the chance.

"Three games for Ben Chilwell wouldn't have been the smartest thing to do. Reece had a dead leg yesterday but we wanted to give him a little bit more time."

He continued: "We were also missing Wesley. Raheem's load was massive so we thought it would be good for him to have a breather, and it was a similar thing with Auba."

For a chance at the best outcome in this game, the Englishman will be hopeful to have all these players at his disposal.
