Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang provides Chelsea fitness update and delivers verdict on Thomas Tuchel dismissal

Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has provided a fitness update and delivered his verdict on Thomas Tuchel's dismissal.

Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has provided a fitness update and delivered his verdict on Thomas Tuchel's dismissal.

The 33-year-old arrived from Barcelona on Deadline Day, citing Tuchel as one of the main reasons he joined the club.

Speaking upon his arrival earlier in September, Aubameyang said: “It will be an honour and a joy again (to play under Tuchel), we had some good times in Dortmund together so I am really happy to play for him again.

"We will achieve some big things, I am sure of this and I will try to help the team. Come on you blues!"

However, Aubameyang only led the line for Tuchel once before the German was dismissed.

Despite this, the Gabon international has been assured of his role at the club after Tuchel's dismissal, with Todd Boehly informing Aubameyang that he was made as a club signing and will play a key role under new boss Graham Potter.

Potter named him from the start in his first match at Stamford Bridge, a 1-1 draw with FC Salzburg.

Raheem Sterling's opener was not enough to claim three points but Chelsea looked fluid in attack, with Aubameyang having a chance to score but for a fantastic defensive block.

Aubameyang has admitted that he is looking forward to working under the 47-year-old, praising Potter after his first days in the job.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, he said: "He’s a really positive person.

"He’s a great character. We will try to learn with him, and to win as soon as possible. It’s going to be easy to adapt. His ideas are very clear."

However, the 33-year-old revealed that he was upset with Tuchel's dismissal, before reiterating that the Blues must move on to get better results.

"It’s been some strange weeks for all of us I think, not only me," he continued. "That’s part of life.

"Everyone knows the relationship I had with Thomas. It’s sad when somebody leaves a club, but this is football.

"You have to adapt quickly at different moments in a season.

"It’s a bit of sadness but hopefully better days are coming. When you play for Chelsea, you need results as soon as possible."

The forward concluded by delivering a fitness update as he continues to wear a mask, recovering from a jaw injury.

"I need more time. I’m not 100 per cent fit. It’s not easy to play with a mask and with an injury, but hopefully I will get 100 per cent as soon as possible," he finalised.
