Leicester City Interested In Chelsea Defender If Wesley Fofana Talks Progress Amid £80 Million Valuation

Leicester City Interested In Chelsea Defender If Wesley Fofana Talks Progress Amid £80 Million Valuation

Both Chelsea and Leicester City are keen on signing each other’s defenders - Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill - this summer.

Both Chelsea and Leicester City are keen on signing each other’s defenders - Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill - this summer but any potential deals are far from complete, according to reports.

Chelsea’s defensive crisis is still trying to be solved this summer, the Blues have had multiple targets on their radar and are looking to get deals over the line.

Losing the services of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who completed moves to Spain, the Blues have been left with gaps to fill.

The signing of Kalidou Koulibaly is the only addition Thomas Tuchel's side have made to bolster the backline.

In their search for centre-backs, Jules Kounde looked to be a done deal for the west London side, but Barcelona had other plans though and made a late swoop for the France international and secured his signature.

It has also been reported that the Blues are willing to offer Timo Werner on a loan deal to former club RB Leipzig as they eye a swap deal for Josko Gvardiol.

Most recently though, Wesley Fofana has emerged as the number one option with Chelsea ready to make their first offer for the 21-year-old.

The former Saint-Etienne star had a difficult time last year, he broke his leg which saw him spend the majority of last season out injured.

Should Chelsea want to complete a move, it is going to be tough, the Foxes value the 21-year-old at around £80-85 million.

Having signed a two-year contract extension with the club in March, that would see him stay at the King Power Stadium until 2027, it is understandable why they value him so highly.

Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers, has insisted that he is not for sale this summer, which has dealt the Blues a blow in their pursuit.

Although, Rodgers said Ben Chilwell wasn’t for sale in the summer of 2020 before he made the switch to Stamford Bridge.

The signing of Fofana has become a priority for Chelsea though and in an attempt to try and lower the asking price for the defender, they could offer players in return.

Tuchel is trying to offload players this summer, the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Ross Barkley could be on their way out.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano though, Leicester are in talks with another Chelsea player, Levi Colwill.

To this stage, it seems the 19-year-old has only been discussed in a separate deal, but the Blues could use the Foxes’ interest to their advantage.

Colwill’s future at Chelsea is still yet to be confirmed, with the club not making a decision over whether he will stay under Tuchel next season.

But Colwill is also part of discussions with Brighton as the Blues eye a deal to sign left-sided defender Marc Cucurella.
