Thomas Tuchel Has Encouraged Chelsea To Make Summer Swoop For Barcelona Target

Thomas Tuchel Has Encouraged Chelsea To Make Summer Swoop For Barcelona Target

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has encouraged his side to make a swoop for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has encouraged his side to make a swoop for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, according to reports.

This comes as Romelu Lukaku is set for a return to Inter Milan this summer, as a loan move is being discussed.

Inter have seen bid of €5 million plus €2 million in add-ons for a loan move rejected earlier this week

However, with the Serie A side set to make an improved offer of at least €10 million, it looks like a move will happen this summer.

Therefore, the Blues must enter the market for a replacement for their £97.5 million club-record signing.

Thomas Tuchel’s side struggled for an out-right goalscorer last season, with Lukaku ending the season as the top scorer with just 15 goals.

Manchester City and Liverpool both have consistent scorers as they challenged at the top of the Premier League, something that Chelsea will be looking to do next season.

Tuchel has previously hinted at making additions to his forward line this summer, speaking in May.

He said:”If we stick to the group then we will try to solve it with these players. Is it necessary to bring more offensive players around the box to create more distractions, to create more space for each other? We will ask that question. Can we do better in the structure? Can we push the players more? Did we rotate too much? Let’s see.

"There are a lot of options. The numbers we produce from our offensive players don’t allow us to over-perform and we need over-performance if we want to be nearer to the top two teams. I am not pointing fingers, I am not blaming anybody, but we need over-performance from everybody. It’s not over-performance if we have only single figures in scoring and assisting."

Raheem Sterling has been linked with a switch this summer, but would not be seen as a ‘specialist replacement’ for Lukaku, which Chelsea seek.

Therefore, Tuchel has reportedly told Chelsea that they should target Bayern’s Lewandowski

The report states that Tuchel has ‘encouraged’ Chelsea to enter the running for the Polan international if there is any chance of a deal.

Lewandowski has reportedly been on Chelsea's radar as a potential replacement for Lukaku, with the striker set to depart Bayern Munich in the summer.

However, the 33-year-old dealt a blow to Thomas Tuchel’s men in their pursuit for him, admitting that he is only considering a move to Barcelona.

He said: "No other offers were even considered by me other than that of Barcelona. I want to leave Bayern, that’s clear.”

However, Tuchel could do his best in order to convince the star to join his rebuild at Chelsea this summer.
