Chelsea confirm 2022/23 away kit as Marc Cucurella seals Chelsea switch

Chelsea confirm 2022/23 away kit as Marc Cucurella seals Chelsea switch

Chelsea have confirmed their away kit for the 2022/23 season after announcing the signing of Marc Cucurella on a six-year contract.

Chelsea have confirmed their away kit for the 2022/23 season after announcing the signing of Marc Cucurella on a six-year contract.

The club announced the home kit last month, but the away kit was still awaiting confirmation and ahead of their Premier League opener against Everton on Saturday evening, it seemingly needed to be revealed due to the kit clash between the two sides, which would see Chelsea unable to wear their home kit.

Now it has been revealed following the arrival of Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion.

During the club’s announcement of the 24-year-old, Cucurella was pictured in the away kit for the first time.

Cucurella was spotted in the colours for the first time when Chelsea announced him on Friday (5 August) afternoon.

Chelsea are set to wear their away kit against Everton on Saturday evening, and Cucurella could in the squad too.

If his paperwork was signed in time and submitted before 12pm on Friday, he can be selected by Thomas Tuchel.

As per reports, Chelsea believe they have submitted all of the documentation in time.

Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference: "The paperwork is in process and hopefully we can get it finished before noon and Marc is our player.

"He is a fantastic, young player. Hungry, mobile, very intelligent player. Can play several positions in our system, that’s why we hope the transfer goes through."

He will train with his new teammates for the first time on Friday ahead of the trip to Goodison Park on Saturday.

Cucurella said: "I’m really happy. It’s a big opportunity for me to join one of the best clubs in the world and I’m going to work hard to be happy here and help the team."

Todd Boehly added: "Marc is an elite defender of proven Premier League quality and he further strengthens our squad going into the new season.

"We continue to work on and off the pitch, and we’re delighted Marc will be a part of the present and future at Chelsea."

Fellow co-owners Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano continued: "We’re very excited to bring Marc to Chelsea and he is another key part of our squad building as we enter the new season.

"We’re all looking forward to getting started on the pitch now, and Marc only adds to that feeling. We welcome him to the club!"
