Chelsea have agreed a fee to sign Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei this summer, with his medical set for the next 48 hours, according to reports.
The 19-year-old has been a target for the Blues all summer, with two bids previously rejected by Inter Milan.
“We need to make sure we have a new generation to take over in the next few years but the guys are strong, that is why they have our trust,” he said.
“Yes, there needs to be a balance."
Having already signed Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire and Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa, Chelsea will add Casadei to their list of young stars recruited this summer.
It was earlier reported that the Italian had agreed personal terms over the move, with a new bid expected to finalise the transfer.
As reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have now agreed a fee for the midfielder.
The Blues are set to pay an initial fee of €15 million, with further add-ons of €5 million as they look to wrap up the deal for Casadei.
Furthermore, the midfielder is expected to arrive in London tomorrow and undergo his Chelsea medical on Thursday ahead of the move being finalised.
Tuchel’s side appear to have beaten Ligue 1 side OGC Nice to the signing after they expressed their interest in Casadei and were willing to include a buyback clause for Inter.

Having scored 14 goals for Inter’s Under-19 side last season, it remains to be seen whether Casadei will play for Chelsea’s youth teams or provide an option for Tuchel in midfield this season.
Chukwuemeka has been training with the first team since his arrival from Aston Villa but is yet to be named in a matchday squad, instead featuring in the development side.
With injuries to Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante, Chelsea require midfield reinforcements and the pair could be trusted to step up if the Blues suffer even more injuries.
Currently only Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher are fit, with Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu yet to make the Premier League matchday squad this season.
It remains to be seen as to what the future holds, but Chelsea appear to have gotten their man.
Casadei will join Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Slonina and Chukwuemeka as new signings at Stamford Bridge this summer.
