Samoa Joe has insisted that WWE legend Kurt Angle is "one of the best cardio-fit guys I've ever been in the ring with, period."

The 40-year-old WWE superstar, real name Nuufolau Seanoa, crossed paths with Angle both inside WWE and during their successful spells at TNA (now Impact Wrestling).

Angle, 51, made a strong claim when he told SPORTbible in an exclusive interview that he was the best wrestler in the business during the 2000s.

When SPORTbible sat down with Joe and asked if he would back up Angle's claim, he responded: "I know Kurt thought he was the best wrestler in the world for 10 years -- I mean, he told me.

"No, honestly, really when you're talking about where Kurt is ability level and what he was able to deliver, yeah, I mean he's in that conversation. No doubt.

"Just super driven and like machine-like as far [as his] ability to go out there and just keep working and keep going, unrivalled gas tank. Probably one of the best cardio-fit guys I've ever been in the ring with, period.

"And his ability to go out there and do great things -- if you look at his bodywork, it's hard to argue that."

Angle made his sensational return to WWE in 2017 and eventually returned to in-ring action with the company, which included a 2019 clash with Joe on Monday Night Raw.

The WWE Hall of Famer, who now works as a backstage producer, retired from wrestling last year after his defeat to Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey.

Joe believes that it was only right for Angle to "come [in] full circle and finish his career here [in WWE]."

The 'Samoan Submission Machine' explained: "I think it was great for Kurt. You know, obviously Kurt burst on to the scene here.

"If you were to ask me even though he spent considerably more time I think in TNA -- you might need to fact check me on that, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that's the case -- you know when you really think about some of Kurt's greatest moments and biggest moments, it was here in WWE.

"So it was nice, I think, for him to come full circle and finish his career here."

WWE legend Jeff Jarrett also praised Angle and told SPORTbible in an exclusive interview that he is "without question right up there in the top three to five" wrestlers of all time.
