The Undisputed Era leader Adam Cole believes that he could tell how much Corey Taylor "loved pro wrestling" when the pair met at Download Festival.

WWE superstar Cole, 30, appeared at the rock festival last June as part of the NXT UK tapings.

And the NXT champion, who faced Dave Mastiff in a dark match, had the opportunity to meet Slipknot's legendary vocalist.

When SPORTbible asked Cole about his meeting with Taylor, he responded: "Oh, it was awesome. You could tell immediately how much he loved pro wrestling.

"Just an awesome guy, so friendly with everybody, a really, really cool down-to-earth guy."

Cole, along with other members of The Undisputed Era, admitted that the WWE stable would love to work with the heavy metal star down the line.

When SPORTbible asked if they wanted Slipknot to collaborate with them on a potential theme or play them out at WrestleMania, The Undisputed Era leader responded: "Oh, that would be pretty cool.

"Yeah, that would be incredible!"

Slipknot, who played Saturday's headline slot at Download Festival in 2019, had their acclaimed single 'Unsainted' featured as the official theme of NXT TakeOver: Toronto last year.

Taylor, 46, was previously at ringside for 2015's NXT show at Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California.

And the Slipknot vocalist, who is also the frontman for acclaimed rock band Stone Sour, slapped former NXT superstar Baron Corbin during their ringside altercation.

Corbin later admitted that he was surprised with the overwhelmingly positive reaction that came from his exchange with Taylor.

"I had no idea how much that was gonna blow up," he told NME in 2017.

"I grew up going to rock shows, and the lines of rock 'n' roll cross over with wrestling so much.

"Wrestling is an opportunity to go to a show, be a part of it and feel the emotions, from anger to frustration to sadness to pain -- everything that music can make you feel.

"So the crossover between audiences is unbelievable, and when the two industries collide, and you have one of their biggest guys in Corey, crashing into one of our biggest superstars and he hits me in the teeth, it's cool to see!

"And maybe it opens a few eyes for people that didn't look at wrestling or didn't look at that kind of music, and it helps us both."

The Undisputed Era also told SPORTbible that they would love for a rematch with Imperium to take place in the UK.

And Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong revealed the WWE superstars they want to face the most from Raw and SmackDown.
