The Rock's WWE trading card becomes most expensive ever after selling for staggering amount

Only one of the The Rock's WWE trading card existed and has now sold for a ridiculous amount of money.

A trading card of WWE legend The Rock has become the most expensive ever after selling for a ridiculous amount of money online.

The Rock, real name Dwayne Johnson, is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time and won ten world championships before becoming a Hollywood sensation.

The People's Champ only makes sporadic appearances these days due to his movie commitments, though the electricity when he shows up is always present.

And without having appeared on screen since October 2019 for SmackDown's 20th anniversary show, Rock is still out here making history and breaking records.

Incredibly, just one version of his 2022 Panini WWE Black Prizm card exists. It sees the Great One delivering a Rock Bottom on long-time rival Stone Cold Steve Austin, who he faced three times at WrestleMania.

It went on sale on April 20 and anticipation was through the roof. And according to TMZ, the one-of-a-kind collector's item was purchased for an eye-watering $126,000 at auction.

It means it is officially the most costly trading card in history, eclipsing the $51,600 forked out for a classic 1982 Hulk Hogan card.

"This is arguably the best WWE trading card in existence," Jesse Craig, Vice President of Sales at PWCC, commented on the sale.

"Cards like this rarely surface for public sale since they are so scarce.

"When scarcity outweighs public demand, you see record prices. This was the perfect combination to drive that demand."

Topps, who also have the Premier League trading cards, produced the WWE collectibles for 17 years.

But last year Panini, best known for their World Cup stickers, swooped in and took the exclusive licence.

A trading starter pack, complete with 24 packs of five cards, the binder and a magazine guide, costs £43.99 - meaning the Rock card sold for more than 2000 times that.
