Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Rayo Vallecano (Pre-Season)

Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Rayo Vallecano (Pre-Season)

The player ratings in Manchester United's final pre-season fixture under Erik ten Hag this summer. It was a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano.

Manchester United's final pre-season game of the summer ended in a 1-1 draw as Erik ten Hag's men are set to return to Premier League action in seven days.

The Reds could've scored more, but were wasteful on a number of occasions.

After going ahead through half-time substitute Amad, United were timid in defence and allowed Alvaro Garcia to score.

Here are the player ratings for the encounter:

Tom Heaton - 6/10

Was sharp in the first minute to deny a chance and was on alert when Telles provided a dodgy pass back. Did as much as he could for the visitors' opener, but it wasn't enough.

Ethan Laird - 8/10

Despite being caught out in the opening minute, Laird has some real positive moments going forward on the right flank. Comfortable in possession and made two important blocks in the second half.

Raphael Varane - 6/10

Solid defensively as always, but also was unable to play from the back with any real effect throughout.

Lisandro Martinez - 7.5/10

He was the calmest man on the pitch when in possession. Always scanning and aware of the time he has to control or pass. A solid first outing in front of the Old Trafford crowd.

Manchester United

Alex Telles - 5/10

A strange performance. The Brazilian made some mistakes. but then his shot led to Amad's opener. However, afterwards he gave his man tons of space in the build-up for the equaliser from the visitors and was caught out of position too often.

James Garner - 6/10

A tenacious performance from United's midfielder. A slip inside his own box caused an issue, but he recovered well and did well throughout.

Manchester United

Donny van de Beek - 6.5/10

Donny looked sharp with his touches and quick flicks, but just couldn't get his final ball right on the day. He didn't quite get his free-kick technique right in the second half.

Christian Eriksen - 7/10

Eriksen's passing range was on full display when he struck a left-footed pass from inside Heaton's area towards Telles attacking on the left-flank. Unfortunate to not score after his strike from the edge of the box hit the post. A tad sloppy in moments, however.

Alejandro Garnacho - 8/10

The teenager looked really bright, showcasing his close control and dribbling ability on the Old Trafford pitch. Deserved at least one assist.

Tahith Chong - 5/10

It might've been the least pleasing performance on the pitch unfortunately. Chong could've hat a hattrick, but his hesitancy with the ball limited his chances on the day.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 7/10

A sharp performance from Ronaldo, who returned to the team. He was solid in link-up play and made some good passes. Surprisingly it was a shot from the left side of the box early in the game which you would've expected too see better. Subbed at half-time.

Subs:

Amad - 7/10

After a disappointing pre-season personally, Amad would've been delighted to score from the bench at Old Trafford. He nipped in following Telles' shot and got there first. Linked well afterwards.

Hannibal Mejbri - 6/10

Some bright moments in the middle of the pitch.

Eric Bailly - 6/10

Did well at the back after he came on.

Shola Shoretire - 5/10

Tried a few things on the left, not all came off.

Zidane Iqbal - 6/10

Showed some positive moments in the engine room, as he has done all pre-season.

Isak Hansen-Aaroen - 6/10

A short cameo. Looked assured in possession and set Telles up well to shoot.
