Feyenoord Director Of Football Confirms Agreement In Place For Manchester United To Sign Tyrell Malacia, Transfer Could Be Imminent

Feyenoord Director Of Football Confirms Agreement In Place For Manchester United To Sign Tyrell Malacia, Transfer Could Be Imminent

Feyenoord's Director of Football Frank Arnesen told reporters that an agreement with Manchester United for Tyrell Malacia has been reached.

Feyenoord’s Director of Football Frank Arnesen has told reporters that an agreement between United and PSV for Turell Malacia has now been reached.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday, that Manchester United were aiming to hijack a deal to sign the talented Feyenoord left-back.

The full-back looked all but set to sign for Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon), however that deal now seems to be in jeopardy.

Following United making a late surge, the decision now reportedly lies in the 22-year-old defender’s hands.

When speaking to 1908.nl, Arnesen a highly decorated player in his own right before his retirement stated that:

“The agreement with Man United is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell.

“If Malacia says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent”

United were not alone in attempting to hijack the deal, with fellow Premier League side West Ham also trying to make a late surge for the talented Dutch international.

Additionally, details on the potential cost of Malacia’s arrival to United have since been reported on.

Reportedly, the transfer will cost a base fee of €15 million (£13 million), with an additional €2 million in add-ons potentially being paid based on player performance.

Malacia, who first made his Feyenoord debut in a Champions League victory against Napoli back in 2017 at the age of 18, has made 98 appearances for the Dutch giants in the time since.

Last year saw the defender rewarded with both his first senior cap for the Netherlands international team, as well as being named in the Europa Conference League Team of the Season, after Feyenoord finished runners-up in the competition.

Playing 50 games in all competitions for the Dutch giants last season, Malacia locked down his position as a starter for the side.

Starting 32 out of a possible 34 Eredivisie games Malacia would produce five goal contributions and 11 clean sheets.

It should also be noted that Malacia has the same agent as long sought after Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong.

With regards to De Jong, that deal is reportedly reaching its final stages. It was most recently reported that the deal is now “90% done”, with an initial transfer fee of £56 million, ahead of any additional player-based add-ons.

It has been reported that alongside De Jong, new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag would be looking to sign four additional players.

The positions of which would be a forward, centre-back, fullback and a midfielder.

With the potential signings of Malacia and Christian Eriksen looking likely, it seems that the attention of the Manchester United camp may well be soon shifting to the remaining positions that need addressing.
