At the first international break of the season, Manchester United sit fifth in the Premier League table having played six games (with a game in hand as the Leeds fixture was cancelled).

Had it not been for a calamitous opening two games against Brighton and Brentford, they could have been right up there at the top of the table alongside current league leaders Arsenal.

Although arguably, without these results, they could still be struggling as the two losses provided valuable lessons for Erik ten Hag and his men. The Real Sociedad loss in the Europa League was also a shock to the system.
