Manchester United will face Brentford on the second game week of the Premier League season.

Erik ten Hag will be looking to get his side back to winning ways after a dismal loss to Brighton & Hove Albion during the opening weekend of the season.

After wins for the rest of Manchester United's top 6 rivals, it is essential that the club get their season under way.

Speaking to MUTV during the pre-match build up, Erik ten Hag said on Christian Eriksen: "He has to domiante the game, like everyone else. He can make the difference.

"We know his creativity. His relationship with Bruno (Fernandes) is getting better every day."

When asked about Ronaldo's start, he backed the striker's ability.

"His pre-season was short, but Ronaldo is Ronaldo, he can do it," Ten Hag said.

"He has proven that so many times in the past, he is a fit guy and he has to show (that) today."

speaking to Sky Sports on Ronaldo, Ten Hag explained why he is starting against Brentford.

"He's always a threat, he can score goals, that's why (he is starting)."

"Second half last week, when he [Ronaldo] came on, it made a difference in the game. And so that I expect today as well."

The fixture will be played under extremely hot conditions, and when it was posed if the heat could affect performance, Ten Hag said: "It's hot for everyone. It's the same for both teams."

Erik ten Hag was questioned about Cristiano Ronaldo's future on Friday, during his pre-match press conference.

"I deal with the players we have, we plan with him this season," Ten Hag revealed.

"We are happy with him and now we have to fit him into the team,” he continued.

“He has to come to the right fitness levels so that he can do the job we expect him to do."

Marcus Rashford is another who has had his future questioned in recent days, with a move to PSG the current major story doing the rounds of the transfer mill.

he knows I love him, he knows I want him to be here, so I will tell him that again," Ten Hag confirmed.

"He’s showed already in the short time I’ve been here in pre-season what he can do.

"Also, last week he was twice in the position to score - he was in the right moment at the right place. I trust he will finish in the future."

Manchester United are due to kick off against Brentford at 17:30 BST, with Christian Eriksen starting against his former club.
