Erik ten Hag reacts to Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Arsenal

Erik ten Hag reacts to Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Arsenal

Erik ten Hag has given his thoughts after Manchester United defeated Arsenal 3-1 in the Premier League.

Manchester United have defeated Arsenal in the Premier League.

The win sees United move up to fifth in the table and become the first team to take points off Arsenal this season.

Thanks to a debut goal from Antony and a further two from Marcus Rashford, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United men triumphed 3-1 at Old Trafford.

After two defeats to start the season off, the Red Devils have recorded four wins in a row.

Erik ten Hag after the match was full of praise for his team.

“We are happy and satisfied with the win, also the performance against a really good team - they played really well,” Ten Hag told the BBC.

“The spirit from this team, they can deal with setbacks so we did, it is really great and shows your mentality - we have really improved on that.”

This is a very noticeable difference in the squad. After the side looked dejected during a 4-0 defeat to Brentford, a win against Liverpool and all the subsequent victories have caused a major uplift within the club.

“We have the right characters and now it is about cooperation, deal with set backs but also improve - we have to stay calm, stay composed and play our game,” Ten Hag continued.

“You can see that Arsenal are more together, more routines - but our team spirit brings us the win.

“We can still do things better, with pressing, we had a good plan but the incoming from Zinchenko for instance, that gives them over numbering in midfield. We can be more composed on the ball, don't give it away.”

Ten Hag was very impressed with the way the squad fought back, too.

“When we got beat in the press we fought back and recovered, especially in transitions we were good.”

Speaking further to Sky Sports, Ten Hag said: “I thought the first 10 minutes was the best we have played so far this season.

“But after the cancelled goal it wasn't as good. But we had a good team today, good team spirit, they fought, they recovered."

“We can have better pressing and organisation, we can control the game more, we can be better in possession with better composure on the ball then we will dictate the game even more,” he concluded.

“We haven't been together long so we'll work on it."

Manchester United will next take on Real Sociedad in the Europa League as Erik ten Hag’s men focus on a new competition.
