Christian Eriksen 'Attracted' To Manchester United Move If Frenkie De Jong Signs, Denmark International Set To Decide Future In The 'Coming Days'

Christian Eriksen 'Attracted' To Manchester United Move If Frenkie De Jong Signs, Denmark International Set To Decide Future In The 'Coming Days'

It could end up being a double swoop for United after a slow start to the window.

Manchester United will hear from Christian Eriksen on if he plans to join the club within the next few days, according to reports.

Eriksen, who is 30-years-old, has his contract at Premier League side Brentford expiring at the end of the month.

He will be available on a free transfer once his contract expires.

Since the end of the season, many clubs have been interested in the Danish international’s services, with Brentford keen to re-sign the player, whilst Manchester United have sent the player an official offer.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the time for Eriksen to make his decision is rapidly approaching, with him now set to decide in the very near future.

The report notes that Eriksen is set to communicate his decision to his agent in the coming “hours/days”, ahead of his final decision being told to the interested parties.

Multiple groups have reported in the last week that sources within United are reportedly very hopeful that Eriksen will choose the club as his next decision.

However, there is also an acceptance of the fact that Eriksen’s decision will be based on more than just the footballing project offered at each club who have inquired over his services.

Eriksen joined Brentford in January of this year, beginning his second spell in the league after previously spending seven seasons at Tottenham Hotspur.

Upon joining, his appearances for the club marked the beginning of an exceptional run for the London based side.

From the point of his first start for the team, Eriksen would play in ten games for ‘The Bees’, between then and the end of the season.

In those ten games, Brentford would lose just twice, as they picked up 22 out of a possible 30 points.

Additionally, it was also reported by The Times that if Manchester United are able to get the signing of Frenkie de Jong over the line, this would help with their pursuit of Eriksen.

The report notes that playing alongside De Jong, who like Eriksen was raised through the ranks at Ajax, would be an attraction for the Danish international.

The signing of De Jong is reportedly edging closer, with it being noted earlier this week that both United and Barcelona are keen for the deal to be completed before this coming Thursday.

In particular it was noted that the Catalan side would like this to be the case so the deal can be finalised ahead of the club closing their books on Thursday.

It has been reported that the signing of De Jong will cost United approximately €80 million. This comes after United have already had two bids of €60 million and €70 million respectively turned down.

The Dutch international has been heavily reported as new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s primary target this summer, after De Jong was such an influential figure during his time under Ten Hag at Ajax.
