Khabib Nurmagomedov Takes Thinly Veiled Digs At Conor McGregor

The Eagle was asked about why he doesn't wear the Russian flag and he took aim over the Irishman's recent accusations.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has continued his rivalry with Conor McGregor by taking the most thinly veiled digs at the Irishman over his punching someone in a pub and accusations of sexual assault.

There is no love lost between Khabib and McGregor and the animosity doesn't seem to be going away, despite the Russian claiming his rival wouldn't be allowed another fight against him until he wins 'nine or 10' fights.

Now the Eagle has added even more fuel to the fire. Speaking ahead of UFC Russia last weekend the UFC lightweight champion was asked why he doesn't wear the Russian flag, and his response was brutal, "Good question, I was expecting it," Khabib said.

"People who wear flags say that they represent their native land, but unlike them, I don't rape women, don't beat old people, don't tell people to drink alcohol."

There is no doubting that Nurmagomedov was referencing McGregor in his answer. Back in August footage emerged of the Notorious hitting a man in a pub in Dublin.

The video showed the former dual weight UFC champion trying to convince a patron of the pub to drink his 'Proper Twelve whiskey' but when the man refused the Irishman threw a punch.

On the comment about rape Khabib is referring to two sexual assault allegations that McGregor is facing. As per the New York Times, two separate women have come forward in the last 12 months with claims of sexual assault against the 31-year-old.

As of the American outlet's report in October of the second claim, the UFC superstar is yet to be charged for either case, both of which allegedly took place in Dublin.

In a statement to the paper a publicist for the fighter said, "Conor McGregor is frequently the subject of rumor. He emphatically denies any report accusing him of sexual assault."

McGregor, who is expected back in action early in 2020 having not fought since losing to his Russian rival in October 2018, took a shot at Khabib's cousin at the weekend.

Abubakar Nurmagomedov made his debut on the Fight Night card in Russia but tapped out in a loss to David Zawada in the first round.

McGregor took to Twitter saying, "Hahahah s***ebags.

"He tapped his forehead. If you can tap his forehead. You can punch his forehead. He quit. 1 quitter exposed."

Will we ever see the rematch between the rivals?
