Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov came face to face for one last time before they will come up against each other at UFC 229 during Friday night's official weigh in.

Drake made a surprise appearance by Conor McGregor's side at the weigh in for UFC 229 tonight in Las Vegas.

The Canadian singer was draped in the Irish flag as he joined the fighter on stage ahead of his showdown with undefeated Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov this weekend.

The rivalry between McGregor and Nurmagomedov has been boiling under for sometime now and really came to a head the week leading up to Khabib's fight against Al Iaquinta, for the lightweight title, at UFC 223. There McGregor would smash up the bus carrying the Russian and kick off a real war of words.

That has carried on throughout the build up to the fight with the Notorious being in his absolute element, whether in the press conference a couple of weeks ago or Thursday night's press conference when Khabib had already left before the Irishman arrived, late as usual, with the Irishman running his mouth about his opponent's politics and his own whiskey brand.

On Friday afternoon both men weighed in. The Russian has historically had problems with making weight but weighed in first at 155 lbs. Around an hour later McGregor weighed in at 154.5 lbs, making the fight official.

As is the way with UFC the pair met for the 'official weigh in' later on and came face to face with each other for one last time:

It has been two years since McGregor has been in an MMA fight. He beat Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title, becoming the first dual weight champion in UFC history.

He was soon stripped of both belts and moved to boxing to take on the undefeated Floyd Mayweather, whose win over the former lightweight UFC champ took him to 50-0.

In the meantime Khabib has won the lightweight title that McGregor once held. He was due to meet Tony Ferguson for the belt back in April but a late pull out from the American, due to injury, led to him taking on Iaquinta instead.

Both men will be determined to put the ugly scenes that led to the fight behind them when the bell rings and come out of the octagon holding the gold.

Khabib's undefeated run makes him the hardest opponent that McGregor has come up against but the former champ has proven time and again his punching ability is not to be sniffed at.
