In a typically no-nonsense reaction to the news that Khabib Nurmagomedov could make a sensational return to the UFC, fan-favourite Nate Diaz has labelled 'The Eagle' a "p***y" following his latest announcement.

It was revealed during Saturday night's UFC 257 event that the Russian fighter, who walked away from the promotion in October after defending his belt against Justin Gaethje, could potentially fight for the promotion again.

After holding talks with him this week, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Nurmagomedov will reverse his retirement decision if any of the UFC 257 contenders "do something spectacular" and make him want to come back.

In the above interview during the broadcast of Max Holloway vs. Calvin Kattar, White said: "He's accomplished everything he set out to accomplish.

"He thought that Oliveira looked really good in his fight against Tony Ferguson. Next Saturday, we have the McGregor-Poirier fight and Chandler and Hooker on there.

"His words to me were, 'I'm gonna watch this fight.' He said, 'I would never tie up the division, hold the belt, keep the belt away from anybody else.

"These guys do something spectacular, show me something spectacular, and make me want to come back and fight.'"

White continued, saying: "So I have a feeling that if somebody delivers, it could be on the co-main event or the main event and like I said he thought Oliveira looked good.

"Two fights coming up, if these guys can do something special, Khabib will fight them."

Hours later and an unimpressed Diaz took to social media to share his far-from-complementary feelings on Khabib's potential return with six words: "Kabib [sic] is a p**** for real."

Diaz also praised those involved on the UFC 257 card by saying there were "some good fights" throughout.

The Stockton Slugger, who has a black belt in jiu jitsu, wasn't impressed with the skills on show when Khabib defeated Justin Gaethje last year, tweeting 'whitebelt' after the Russian beat the interim champion after one minute and 34 seconds of round two.

It was the 11th submission win of Khabib's career in MMA and while it could have been aimed at 'The Eagle', it seems likelier that the dig from Diaz was aimed at Gaethje, who only has one submission victory from 22 career victories.
