Tony Ferguson has fired a warning to Khabib Nurmagomedov after finding out that the UFC lightweight champion is stuck in Russia.

Nurmagomedov has confirmed he's stuck in Russia due to the coronavirus outbreak and says UFC 249 could go on without him.

Ferguson has reacted to Nurmagomedov situation and he insists the imposed travel ban will not prevent him from "whoopin" the undefeated champion.

"April 18 Is Getting Close @TeamKhabib & You're Hiding In Russia. Travel Bans Will Not Prevent Me From Whoopin' That Ass. Don't Use It As An Excuse To Back Out. You Have Been Sent Many Locations, Send Us 1. Still My Bitch #DefendorVacate MF #ufc249 @ufc @danawhite," he wrote on Twitter.

UFC 249 was originally scheduled for Brooklyn, but New York governor Andrew Cuomo issued a banning order on mass gatherings and sporting events due to the global pandemic.

But UFC president Dana White is hellbent on running the show despite cancelling three events because of the disease.

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been matched against each other four times since 2015, but each clash has fallen through due to a variety of weigh-in mishaps and injuries.

A devastating fifth cancellation appears to be on the cards with Nurmagomedov's travel situation.
