UFC fans were left shocked at the amount of times Kamaru Usman brutally stomped Jorge Masvidal's foot at UFC 251.

Usman defeated Masvidal via unanimous to retain his welterweight title in the main event of UFC's first-ever 'Fight Island' show.

'The Nigerian Nightmare' turned in an efficient performance against Masvidal but fans were left less than impressed with his tactics.

Usman constantly attacked the feet of 'Gamebred' throughout all five rounds and the strategy was frowned upon by viewers at home.

The 33-year-old remained in control throughout but he didn't win any new supporters by the end of the night.

Despite the criticism, Usman did manage to retain his title and extend his record to 12-0 in the UFC.

Following the fight, he paid tribute to Masvidal who stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Gilbert Burns who had tested positive for coronavirus.

"Gambred is the biggest, baddest dude out there right now and I had to switch gears to prepare for him on six weeks' notice," he began.

"I had to make a mental switch, I prepared for Gilbert, I had a completely different gameplay. Gambred is tough and he showed it out there.

"I think Jorge is tough. I've always said it. Jorge is a tough guy and I give him credit for that. I'm just a level better."
