Dana White has revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov was hospitalised in the build-up to UFC 254, but refused to pull out of his clash against Justin Gaethje.

Nurmagomedov carried a broken foot into his UFC unification bout versus Gaethje.

That's according to White who says the UFC star fought with two broken toes and a broken bone in his foot.

Speaking at the UFC 254 post-fight press conference, he said: "What this guy has been through, we're all lucky that we got to see him fight tonight.

"Apparently, he was in the hospital and he broke his foot three weeks ago."

White added: "So, he has two broken toes and a bone in his foot that's broken.

"That's what his corner told me."

Nurmagomedov submitted Gaethje in the second round of their championship clash.

And 'The Eagle' called time on his storied career after racking up his 29th professional MMA victory.

"This is my last fight," he told Jon Anik inside the Octagon.

"No way I can come here without my father. I promise it will be my last fight. If I give my word, I have to follow this."

Nurmagomedov walks away from the UFC with a perfect record of 29-0, beating the likes of Edson Barboza, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, among others.
