And it appears the bout is close to being agreed after 'The Notorious' dropped a major update on Instagram.
He shared a picture of himself in training accompanied with the caption: "McGregor's Fighter Aerobic/Anaerobic Systems of Training.
"Big News Coming!"
McGregor also took to Twitter to tweet an emoji. Poirier jumped on social media, too, with a matching tweet of his own.

McGregor vs. Poirier II is reportedly set to headline the first major show of 2021.
Reports also suggest the vacant UFC lightweight title could be on the line following Khabib Nurmagomedov's shock retirement.
McGregor and Poirier first fought at featherweight at UFC 178 in September 2014 with the Irishman securing a first-round victory
The former UFC double champion hasn't fought since beating Donald Cerrone in January.
'The Diamond', meanwhile, last fought in June when he outpointed Dan Hooker at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.
